Beauty in Distress: Cosmetic Review: Nature Republic Pretty Tree ...

I have thick brows but the hairs tend to be sparse on the outer area. Also, before, I tweeze the hairs that do not agree with my brow shape but I discovered that that is a big no-no. The result would be thinner brows that gives one's face a perenially surprised look or a mataray (snobbish) look.

If you want to fill in the gaps between your brows or you want to make your brows look fuller yet natural, you have to get a decent eyebrow pencil. And I don't mean those pencils that you see in some place that only costs PhP 10.00 to 15.00. Those are eyeliners! And you don't know what those contain so stick to the safer products.

I use brow pencils on a daily basis (but not now since it's summer, I have no work. Lucky teacher!) to define my brows. They say brows make or break your entire look. Your make up might look good but with unruly or invisible brows, the look falls apart.

I will review the two brow pencils I alternately use. I will make a comparative review of both so you will see which works for you.

Nature Republic Pretty Tree Wood Eyebrow (PhP 170.00) and Etude House Easy Brow Pencil (PhP 128.00)

Both come in No. 2 but that's where the similarity ends. As you can see, the other is lighter and the other is darker.

These two will pretty much last you a long time because they are in pencil form. Both also come with brushes that can help you blend and spread out the color of the pencil. You cannot go wrong with these because the colors are very natural but make sure that you use light, feathery strokes when drawing on your brows.

Now on to the review!

Note: For easier reference, I will use Pretty Tree for Nature Republic and Easy Brow for Etude House. Pretty Tree will always be above and Easy Brow will always be below it. Okay? Okay!

Pretty Tree is a deep brown color while Easy Brow is light brown. Now, the color you would want to use for your brows depends on your hair color. If you have black, dark brown hair, go with the Pretty Tree. If you have hair in lighter shades of brown you can opt for either of the two but I would choose Easy Brow for my hair color right now which is Caramel Brown.

There's not much difference with the pencil points. Both are easy on the brows because it blends with your natural brow color. Just don't sharpen the pencil too much; it will give you a harsh line. If you have accidentally made your pencil too pointy, draw on the back of your hand to make the pencil point blunt.

Regarding the wood used, easy Brow looks a little smooth than the Pretty Tree, don't you think? Oh chuck it, they're still both eyebrow pencils, tou don't use the pencil shavings for your brows, right? Haha! But Pretty Tree is longer than the Easy Brow (see third photo from above) so it can last you longer.

Above are the brushes found at the other end of the pencils used to blend and spread the color of the pencil. I like Pretty Tree's spoolie as you can use every side to brush your brows unlike the Easy Brow's brush that is only one-sided. Pity, I like Easy Brow's color more so I have to get by with the brush. Don't worry, the brushes both perform well, you just have to learn using the specific brushes.

Now if there's one thing I like about the Pretty Tree, it would be its sturdiness. It doesn't wobble when you use it, enabling precise application. As for the Easy Brow? Look at what happened above. I'm not sure if I'm the only one who had this problem. One time I was drawing my brows and the top just went off! I'm sure some Mighty Bond can fix it. But this is a -1 for me.

Here I am wearing the eyebrow pencils:

I'm wearing Pretty Tree on my right eyebrow (to your left) and Easy Brow (to your right) on my left eyebrow. Pretty Tree looks almost black here and Easy Brow is noticeably brown.

So, which eyebrow pencil would you use? Do you own these two also?

You can purchase your eyebrow pencils at Nature Republic and Etude House branches nationwide. Oh, Nature Republic has an online store over here. Do check it out!
