Do you ever find yourself wanting to change up your makeup routine but can’t because you’re out of new and fresh ideas? There are plenty of little tweaks you can make on a day when you’re feeling a little adventurous without causing you to look like you caked on a clown mask. The best part is that these products can often be readily found in your beauty arsenal, even if you’re pared down to the basics.

Bold Brows

Filling in your brows makes a huge difference to your entire face. Bold brows give a more youthful look and frame your eyes nicely, playing them up and bringing more attention to that area of your face. If your eyes are one of your favorite features, this is a great tip for you! Filling in brows is simple: using a brown eyeliner or eyebrow pencil in a shade a tad bit darker than your hair color (I swear by my Wet N’ Wild brow pencil, as it is the cheapest and one of the best products in my makeup kit), make small, light strokes in the direction that your hair grows. If you were a little heavy-handed with your strokes, brush through your brows with a damp Q-tip. You will be amazed at the difference a strong brow can make to your face.

Highlighting

Certain areas of your face are naturally cast in shadow. Highlighting these areas with shimmery or light colored eye shadows or creams brighten your entire face and help ensure a glowing complexion. Using the lightest eye shadow you own, use your finger to tap and blend small amounts of shimmer to certain areas of your face. These areas include: On the brow bone right under your eyebrow, on the inner corner of the eyes, lightly swept on the top of your cheekbones upward towards your hairline and finally on the “cupid’s bow” part of your top lip where it dips in the center.

Contouring

Unlike with highlighting tricks, there are other areas of the face that look better cast in shadow in order to create the illusion of a more angular bone structure. Using a bronzer or shade of eyeshadow that is one to two tones darker than your skin color, you can use the appropriate brush for the area of the face you are working on. For example: a blush brush for cheeks or medium sized eyeshadow brush for lids. For the cheeks, find the area directly beneath your cheekbone. Then apply a slanted, blended line of bronzer in a diagonal line following underneath the natural line of your cheekbone. This will give the illusion of very defined, high cheekbones. For eyelids, find the natural crease of your eye or the area where the top of your eyeball is, and use eyeshadow in a sweeping windshield wiper motion in this area. This creates depth to your eyes and defines the unique shape of your eye.

So I wanted to do a few quick swatches of Etude House's Draw Eye Brow eyebrow pencils :) There are the pencils I have been using for the past few months. I've always preferred the convenience of pencil but have always found many of them way too harsh! I was waiting to get my hands on all the colors but I received these in my order with Yesstyle and as far as I can tell, they will no longer carry them. However the product is NOT discontinued and I'm sure you can find it in other places :) I doubt there would be counterfeits, as Etude house is not a high end or in high demand company. Tips & Tricks for Shaping the Best Brows

At one time or another we have all experienced DIY eyebrow disasters—over-plucked, misshaped or waxed into submission. To avoid these hair-raising mishaps, the staff at Style investigated some tips and tricks to make the perfect brow possible.

1. Before diving into tweezing or waxing, it’s important to figure out which eyebrow shape is best suited for your face:

If your face is round, brows with an angled arch complement the fullness of your face.

Those with a heart- or square-shaped face should stick with a softer rounded arch to balance the sharper angles of the face.

If you have an oval face, you have it the easiest. You can keep your brows fuller and choose between a higher arch or a gentle angle.

2. Once you decide which arch is best for you it’s time to get started! Whether you like to tweeze or wax, we have step-by-step methods for shaping and sculpting your look:

• Using a pencil, figure out where your brows should begin and end. Hold the pencil vertically against the bridge of your nose. Your eyebrow should start at the pencil’s outside edge. Then place the pencil on the outer part of the eye. This is exactly where the brow should stop. To figure out where your arch should be, line up the pencil with the outside edge of your iris.
• Next, use a toothbrush to brush your eyebrows into their natural shape using an upward motion.

• Draw in your desired eyebrow shape with a soft eye shadow pencil (try Wet ‘n Wild Idol Eyes Shadow $2, CVS). Note: Using an eyebrow pencil may cause you to over-pluck, so a shadow pencil is recommended.

3. If you prefer tweezing, the best (and least painful) time to tackle your brows is after a shower when the hair is softer and easier to remove.

• Take slanted tweezers (try Tweezerman $20, Ulta) and start plucking individual hairs, beginning under the brow and pulling in the direction of your hair growth.
• After tweezing, soothe the area with a cool moistened teabag.

4.) For women who wax, it is important to clean the area with astringent beforehand.

• Use an eyeshadow pencil to determine where your brows will begin and end and where the arch will be. Unlike the tweezing method, mark these points with a dot.
• Connect these dots together, giving you an idea of what the brows should look like and where the wax should be applied.

• Apply the hot wax (try Bliss Poetic Waxing Wax Strips for Face $10, Sephora) following the guide you created. It is very important that you follow the directions for any waxing product you choose. Also, it is recommended you remove hair in small increments to avoid making brows too thin.
• Pull skin taut with one hand and pull the wax strip against the hair growth.
• Remove any remaining stray hairs with a tweezers.
• Apply a soothing balm to the recently waxed area.

To make it wearable, I added a light warm brown shade to the top lid, which softens the hard black-lined lower lid, as well as filled in the inner rim of the lower lid with black liner. This modification still allows the strong lower lid to be the look&8217;s defining characteristic, without potentially giving it&8217;s wearer distracting raccoon eyes!

Step One: Start with a clean ce and apply your normal base, concealer, or powder.

Step Two: Lightly shade the top lid from lash line to crease with MAC Wedge eyeshadow.

Step Three: Fill in the brows using an eye brow pencil appropriate to the color of your brows. If you&8217;re feeling bold fill them in slightly darker than you normally would. Set the brows with Maybelline Define-A-Brow Gel.

Step Four: Apply NARS Black Moon eyeliner to the lower lid and lower inner rim. Use your finger to smudge and soften the edge of the liner.

Step Five: Apply chapstick and L&8217;Oreal Volumonous Mascara.

I think it might seem quite a bit like the video i already did of make up but the colours are really quite different, they include dark bronze, metalic brown, orangy peachy colour, pale pink and gold. all included in Dior quad 659. I don’t like that dressing gown but my mum gave me it so i wear it anyway and actually it is quite warm and snuggly. Products used. Maybelline dream satin liquid. Maybelline dream matt concealer 17 loose powder max factor cream puff in medium beige rimmel eyebrow pencil in Hazel dior quad eyeshadow in 659 l’oreal telescopic mascara in black 17 waterproof mascara on lower lashes in brown black black eyeliner and blue grey eyeliner. use a colour on the bottom which is like your eye colour. rimmel natural bronzer in sun glow no blush no highlighter 17 lipstick in flirty rimmel lipliner actually called Addiction. (not what i said in the vid) natural collection lipstick rose petal glamshine lipgloss 152 I know my eyebrows went on a bit off but i was in a hurry and my pencil was so small! bought a new one today.

Yup, this is another Lioele Auto Eyebrow Pencil. Teehee. I wanted to buy it in Shade 1, but the silly store assistant wrongly gave me Shade 2. Traveling back to the store was too much trouble and time, so I decided to keep it. Shade 2 is really a little dark for me. I had The Body Shop Camomile Eye Makeup Remover previous generation for YEARS! I use this whenever I need to remove a small smudge of mascara, eyeliner drawn too long or thick, you know, correct small mistakes. For hardcore removal of eye makeup, I still rely on the Biore Eye & Lip Makeup Remover. Don’t think I will ever stop using that.

Marlena is such an inspiration, isn’t she? She started off filming her own makeup tutorials, then collaborated with more people to produce themed projects, had models coming on her tutorials, created a thriving community, talked about her weight losing journey and finally surgery (Not sure if it’s tummy tuck or liposuction), sold products off her site, and then now produces her own Makeup Geek makeup line. They are in the process of churning out a full makeup line – eyeshadows, blushes, lipsticks, lip glosses, etc. What a woman! *thumbs up*
