For all the care we take with our beauty routine, eyebrows are often neglected. Yet they form a kind of frame on the face and eyebrow shaping gives balance and harmony to the face and pull the whole look together. Even eyes that are otherwise done impeccably done still look like there is something missing if the eyebrows are untidy. And even if eye makeup is used and the eyebrows are unkempt, something still seems amiss.
Eyebrows should be trimmed to look neat. They do not look right when they are over plucked. They should be nicely curved to bring out the eyes and to the work with the shape of the face. It is best to have them done in a salon to get the arch right and then keep them tidy at home with a pair of tweezers.
Eyebrows are groomed mainly by using tweezers or threading with the usual sewing thread. With tweezers, the hairs are plucked out to achieve the curve and with thread, they are run over with a length of thread held tightly between the fingers and run over the brows.
Do not overdo them until only a very thin line is left. This adds years to the face and even filling in with an eyebrow pencil gives one a permanently surprised look. On the other hand, eyebrows that are bushy and thick give an immediate impression of not caring about ones appearance and they also take away attention from other features that may be well done.
Also, ensure that you eyes brows are not left with spaces in between, especially if you use a pair of tweezers to maintain them at home. Even filling them in between with a pencil would create an irregular look, as the fill- in would stand out from the natural eyebrows.
When filling in, do so with light, feathery strokes rather than heavy dark lines. For a look that is natural as possible, use a pencil that is close as possible to the colour of the eyebrows. To finish, blend everything nicely with an eyebrow brush. One with short, stiff bristles is best. Brush following the direction of the arch or hair growth.
If you will use tweezers at home in between eyebrow shaping at the salon, use them after a warm shower. Steam opens up the pores so that hair is pulled out more easily and with less pain. If ever eyebrows will be raised, let it be in admiration of your neat, well-shaped pair.
