What it is: Shiseido Natural Eyebrow Pencil is a dual-ended pencil, with a pencil on one end and an angled brush on the other. It comes in four colors and prides itself on looking natural and not needing a touch up.
How to use: First I brush my brow hairs with a spoolie or the brush that is on the other end of the pencil. I make light strokes in the direction of my hair growth then even out the top and insides. I fill in any spots that need extra filling.
Texture & Color: This pencil is very firm and relatively dry, which is what I prefer in a pencil. Because of this, you don’t have to worry about going overboard on color. The name of the color I bought is “Natural Black”, but the color is a stone-ish gray.
I’ve always wondered why it looks really weird when I use a brown shade to fill in my brows, regardless if it’s pencil, shadow or MUFE Eyebrow Corrector. I thought to myself, “If I have a warm skintone, shouldn’t warm colors look fine when used to fill in my brows?” The best thing I had out of all the eyebrow products I own was MAC’s Copperplate shadow. It’s a brown-gray that I found to be most natural looking.
Then I came across a blog and the author pondered the same thing. However, she had a reasonable conclusion: (p.s. she’s Asian with dark hair like I do) The rule of thumb is to fill in one’s brows with a color that is one shade lighter. One shade lighter from black is not dark brown, it’s gray! *light bulb!!* My hair is brown in the sunlight but it reads black at first glance.

Bottom Line: If you’ve been looking for the right color to fill in your brows and you have similar skin tone and hair color as me, I recommend this 100%. This may be my holy grail eyebrow product (although I’m tempted to try the Shu Uemura pencil) because all the “pros” that I listed above combine to make the perfect eyebrow pencil! I’m also happy I found a potential holy grail in a pencil, rather than using a brush and shadow, which is sometimes annoying.
Where To Buy & Price: I bought mine at Nordstrom for $20.00 and free shipping. I don’t believe Sephora carries this particular product so you may have to look in department stores.
