Not Too Shabby: B by Blink Brow Bar
Enter the B by Blink Brow Bar products: from top, the Strip eyelashes, the intense kajal, the mascara and the eyebrow pencil.
The darker swatch is the intense kajal in Dark Brown, and the lighter the eyebrow pencil in Cardamom Pod
I got sent these lovely pieces from the Blink Brow Bar before Christmas and I've meant to blog about them for ages (bad, naughty blogger!) I wanted to give you a little more info about them and a honest review.
You might have spotted an eyebrow technician in your nearest branch of Selfridges or other department store -well I was really interested to find out that entrepreneur Vanita Pardi, founder of Blink, was the first to launch the concept of eyebrow threading bars inside department stores. I'm a big champion of female entrepreneurship and buisiness skills so congratulations to Vanita!
Now onto the products I was sent. First up, the B by Blink Brow Bar Intense Kajal pencil - mine is in a gorgeous chocolatey brown, perfect for channelling my inner 60's pin-up girl. It comes with a handy 'smudger' on the other side of the pencil for buffing in to the lash line - and it is nice and soft too, unlike most other eye pencils which tend to irritate my delicate eyelid skin. Like all of the B by Blink Brow Bar products, the new Kajal Pencil is all natural and free of preservatives. The kohl contains no mineral oil and the waxes are derived from olive and jojoba oil making it durable and perfect for use on the sensitive inner eyelid. The colour fabulous too - perfect for my skin tone - and unlike most eye pencils that I've bought in the past (I'm looking at you, No.7 & Bourjois) the kohl actually stays on your eye all day, til you come to remove it. At £13, it might be a little expensive for some - however, it's twice as long as your average drugstore eye pencil, and trust me, it's a little extra money for a lot more oomph - I'm throwing away all my old eye pencils and getting the full set!
Secondly is possibly my favourite product, the B by Blink Brow Bar eyebrow pencil. Oh Cardamom Pod, let me count the ways I love thee! I've never used an eyebrow pencil before and for years (and I do mean years) I'd sworn by my Benefit Brow Zings. However, as I got a little older I wanted something that gave a little more of a polished look - Brow Zings, if you've ever tried it, is definitely 'eyebrow-lite' rather than super groomed. I'm not sure how Ciara at Monty PR guessed my eyebrow colour completely correctly, but I adore this product! It goes on really easily as it is a wax based eyebrow pencil so the colour does not smudge and lasts longer than a powder based pencil. One end is the colour and the other end has a brush to allow the colour to be blended into the eyebrows. Most importantly, it doesn't give me a 'scouse brow' - you can check out the gorgeous Laura Sutcliffe for the lowdown on the 'scouse brow' by clicking her lovely eyebrows below to be taken to her blog which is my new must-read for 2012!

Finally, the last two products - the B by Blink Brow Bar strip eyelashes and the B by Blink Brow Bar mascara. The mascara is perfect for the day-time; I use a more 'oomph-y' mascara for night-time, but this is perfect for the day. It looks after your lashes, and the gel formula means you don't get that clumpy, eugh look from cheaper mascaras, but it doesn't look like you are off for a night out either. Very natural - great for daytime. Me likey.

Then the B by Blink Brow Bar lashes, which are avaliable in in six flattering styles - as demure or outrageous as your favourite party dress! Choose from Natural (£10); Classic (£12); Glitter (£12); Long and Luscious (£15); Black and Gold (£15) and Feathers (£15). I used the Long and Luscious lashes for a night out recently. I don't often wear falsies as I'm scared of them irritating my eyes, but this eyelash glue is a revelation - and works! No irritation for days after and they peeled off a treat. Not for everyday - but I'd recommend popping in and getting them applied professionally (especially if you are anything like me, my BBF applied them) just great for a night out!
All in all, I was very happy with the B by Blink Brow Bar products - I'm so fussy with eye-makeup, as my eyelid skin is really super sensitive, and this has been designed with that in mind. The prices are a smidge over what I'd usually pay - but I don't think you can put a price on looking after yourself properly. Plus, I've been using them for over a month and they've superceded all my usual products, which really says something. I'll be putting in an order for the rest of the eye pencils when I get paid - and I might pop in to one of their treatment centres in the new year to have some pampering!
